Our Pickleball Court Building Process

How Just Pickle Courts Reimagined the Pickleball Court Building Process

February 26, 20262 min read

You might not know this, but Just Pickle Courts didn’t start in pickleball.

We started in the asphalt industry, an industry we’ve spent over two decades learning inside and out. In fact, we still operate in that space today. Pavement, performance, longevity, and doing things the right way have been at the core of our work for a long time.

So What Brought Us To Pickleball?

Beyond one of our founders’ genuine love for the sport, we began noticing a consistent pattern. Simply by paying attention, we heard countless stories from homeowners, clubs, and communities who had less-than-great experiences trying to build a pickleball court. Slow communication. Unreliable contractors. Confusing timelines. Subpar final results.

There was a clear gap in the industry, and it felt like an opportunity to do something better.

For a team that already understood pavement and construction at a deep level, stepping into pickleball was surprisingly fluid. That doesn’t mean we claim perfection. Anyone who does isn’t being honest. But we do claim a strong desire to learn, improve, and become the best in our area and industry. That mindset is what shaped our guided process.

Our Building Process

Pickleball Court Building Process

We designed our process to remove guesswork, improve communication, and create a better experience from start to finish. Whether your project is a single backyard court or something larger, the approach stays the same.

Step 1: Consultation & Design
We start by listening. We talk through your goals and walk through your space before you sign on the dotted line. We want to know what you want out of your court. From there, we guide you through options and provide clear, straightforward pricing.

Step 2: Site Preparation
A great court starts below the surface. Proper grading, leveling, and water vapor barrier installation ensure a strong, stable foundation.

Step 3: Base Installation
Depending on your project, we install either a concrete or post-tension concrete base, built to support long-term performance and durability.

Step 4: Top Coat & Customization
This is where your court takes shape. We apply your chosen surface finish and add any custom features to bring your vision to life.

STEP 5: Final Walkthrough
Before the project is complete, we review every detail with you to make sure the finished court aligns with expectations.

STEP 6: Enjoy, With Ongoing Support
Once your court is ready for play, we’re still here. From maintenance options to referral programs, we support your court well beyond the final walkthrough.

Why This Matters

Our process exists because buying a pickleball court shouldn’t feel confusing or frustrating. It should be clear, thoughtful, well-managed, and FUN. Whether your project is big or small, we take it seriously and guide you through every step.

If you’re considering a pickleball court and want a no-obligation consultation with a team that values quality, communication, and experience, we’d love to talk.
